Fail – Lemon orzo soup

I’m having a day. It is a Tuesday after all, and those are notoriously bad for me. I’d like to think it’s the distance from the weekend that makes any slightly bad thing seem epically so, but I can’t be sure.

Normally, I avoid my blog when I’m feeling like this. Most food bloggers are chipper and sunny. Of course, most food bloggers also post pumpkin recipes out the wazoo when the fall hits, so I guess I shouldn’t necessarily hold myself up to that standard.

While I’m not implying my life is horrible (in fact I have a lot of things to be thankful for), some days it’s not all unicorns and rainbows (universal indicators of awesome).

So, I found it ironic that on a day like this, the only pictures I have ready for the blog are for this major fail of a soup.

After the success of the Spicy Thai Coconut Soup, in part thanks to the citrusy finish, I thought I should give some other quick soups a try. This Spinach, Pasta and Pea soup had good reviews. Actually, looking back it has great reviews. Besides leaving out the chickpeas, I followed this to the letter, and we were left with warm lemony broth. It was so bad it didn’t even warrant a witty moniker from Hubster. The poor man took two bites and declared he couldn’t eat it. I didn’t make it much further. (That’s what post-dinner ice cream is for, right?)

Anyone else having “one of those days” and looking forward to post-dinner ice cream wine?

Man, I’m having a day of it too. Yesterday was no peach either. I’m thinking soup is in order for a day like today. Bummer yours didn’t work out. I’m throwing a premade tortilla soup mix into the crockpot and adding an obscene amount of cheese and sour cream. So yes, I too am living for wine o’clock today!

I’m glad I wasn’t the only one. Wine helped tremendously. I hope it had the same effect for you :)

So sorry this was a fail for you – looks so good in theory. And my Tuesday was pretty rotten, too. In fact, I was sure I left a comment for you here, but it’s not here…I probably didn’t do it right. Hope today is better and your next soup is wonderful!

By the way – I really love that you post things even if they don’t turn out quite the way you had hoped. It’s really interesting and helpful to see that take on things, too.

Today is going much better! I hope your week is also on the upswing!
I’m glad you find it useful. It kills me when I make a recipe that has fantatic reviews or comes from a reputable magazine and it turns out awful. So disappointing. And thus I’m on a quest to save others from this fate :)
